Real Name: Emil Basarabiu
Emil took the name Victor Voronezh from Voronezh prison where he served time for murdering thieves who killed his family. He killed an additional two other members of Izmaylovskaya Bratva while incarcerated, and came under the wing of Sergei Timofeyev, a former Izmaylovskaya vory who had broken away to form his own bratva. While working under Sergei, Emil turned his anger into a tool to be used to gather power and after impressing his master was embraced, both into the unlife and the brotherhood of thieves.
Coming to America
With Sergei’s influence expanding into America, Emil, along with the Strigoi Morti Nicademus, were tapped by the Russian Leadership cult to infiltrate the illusive kingdom of Las Vegas. Taking the identities Jeb Hussein and Joe Klein, they laid groundwork for the leadership cult to gain foothold in the region. After Emil and Nicademus’ identities became compromized, they assumed new identities during an attack on the city, presenting themselves as recently embraced neonates. Taking his Victor Voronezh moniker, Emil claimed to be a childe of Dan Slope, a member of a coterie originally from Chicago. Emil and Nicademus joined this coterie and helped them combat the influence of Don Viktor in Las Vegas and save the soul of its brujah member, Raphael. After doing what they could to restore Raphael’s humanity, Dan and Jack reportedly left Las Vegas.
Welcome to the Family
Once established as neonates Emil and Nicademus continued to struggle against the more established members of the kingdom of Las Vegas, known internally as “The Family”, while at the same time the Russian Leadership Cult was thrown into a upheaval and a civil war by the ancient Issi Din. Count Ivan, a powerful elder of the cult, used his own influence to relocate to Las Vegas, and offered shelter to Emil and Nicademus. Emil in turn used his influence to create a haven suitable for the count in a secluded mansion on the outskirts of the city. While the count provided safety from the family, an opportunity appeared for the neonates to be forgiven for their sins against other Las Vegas kindred during the next convergence. They used this opportunity to reveal their identities as members of the Russian Leadership Cult and ask for admission to the family. Playing on the fears of the Las Vegas kindred with talk of another hidden cult of the VII, the neonates were accepted into the family by a slim margin of votes, but on returning to the Count, the discovered that he had been assassinated. They kept the demise of the Count a secret, though it is thought by others that the Count is in torpor, and not as active as he was. In doing so they have maintained their status among the family at least for the time being.
